Grants Received for Construction of the River Mountains Loop Trail

ISTEA grant to the National Park Service to improve the Historic Railroad Trail from Boulder City to the vicinity of Hoover Dam including opening the 5th tunnel

TEA-21 grant to the City of Boulder City for a 3-mile segment of the Trail extending from the State Division of Museums Railroad Maintenance Building to Railroad Pass

$496,000

TEA-21 grant to the City of Henderson for 2-mile segment of the trail which will connect the corporate boundary of Henderson with Lake Mead NRA following the Basic Management, Inc. (BMI) pipeline corridor

TEA-21 grant to the National Park Service for a 3.5 mile segment of the trail which will connect the Nevada Division of Wildlife Fish Hatchery with Boulder Beach, including the public education portion of the SNWA water treatment facility

Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act funding to the National Park Service for 3-mile segment from Lake Mead Marina to the Alan Bible Visitor Center following Boulder Beach

Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act funding under the "Local Parks, Trails, and Natural Areas" program to the City of Henderson for the construction of approximately 3.7 miles of the River Mountains Loop Trail extending from the River Mountains Water Treatment Plant to Railroad Pass. (Project has not received final authorization)

Other Trail Construction Commitments

In 1992, Boulder City partnered with the Regional Flood Control District to construct a multipurpose facility in Hemenway Wash. It included a flood channel and recreational trail facility. In 1997, Boulder City received an ISTEA grant to extend this trail to a total length of 2 miles. The work was completed in 1998

 

In 2000, Lake Las Vegas agreed to construct segment 14 of the River Mountains Loop Trail (2.6-miles) on the north side of Lake Mead Drive as part of the City of Henderson Landscape Improvement Plan following the land exchange with the Bureau of Land Management

 

In 1998, Southern Nevada Water Authority agreed to construct Segments 11 and 12 of the River Mountains Loop Trail (4-miles) along the new water line corridor between the Foothills Reservoir Site and the new River Mountains Treatment Facility

 

In 1998, Lake Mead NRA in Partnership with Basic Management Inc. agreed to allow a portion of the abandoned Lakeshore Drive to remain as part of the River Mountains Loop Trail (3.4-miles) following the construction of the new Lakeshore Drive
