2005 Work Plan
"It is the goal of the
River Mountains Trail Partnership to have a competed trail system
including signage and trail heads by the fall of 2007."
Goals
& Objectives
TRAIL PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT
GOAL 1. Support completion of the River Mountains Loop Trail through agency outreach,
partnership development, fundraising and, and technical support.

 | Complete all grant agreements to ensure expedient development of funded
trail segments.
|
|
|
|
 | Secure additional Department of Transportation & SNPLMA funding for high priority trail segments
|
|
|
|
 | Build at least fifteen+ miles of new trail by the end of 2005
|
|
|
|
 | Complete trail alignment planning for the remaining segments of the Loop
Trail sections 3,4 &14 and document in the trail strategy plan.
|
|
|
|
|
 | Produce trail signage and install posts.
|
|
|
|
 | Implement the trail sign plan for existing segments for trail
and signs |
|
PUBLIC AWARENESS AND OUTREACH
GOAL 2. Increase public awareness about the River Mountains Loop Trail throughout the
Las Vegas Valley promoting support through volunteerism, advocacy, and
donations.

 | Form self-directed outreach group with leadership
|
|
|
|
 | Outreach to the community directly contacting at least 1000
potential supporters. Continue to expand Partnership outreach list
to include a minimum of 100 cash or in-kind supporters.

 | Update the media contact list from 80 to 100 media contacts.
|
|
|
|
 | Involve new volunteers in the work of the Trail Partnership.
Establish an active volunteer program including sponsoring of trail days and
trail hikes and rides.

|
|
 | Sponsor a annual highly visible trail day's event that engages a significant
segment of the population serviced by the River Mountains Loop Trail.
|
|
|
|
 | Participate in Earth Day or other National Trails events that
advances our cause.
|
|
|
|
 | Maintain a trail status map that identifies segments available for use and
timelines for completion of individual links.
|
|
|
|
 | Ensure maintenance of the website for the River Mountains
Trail Partnership on a monthly basic.
|
|
|
|
 | Install kiosks at priority sites
along the existing trail. |
|
ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT
GOAL 3. Promote the long-term sustainability of the River Mountains Trail
Partnership.

|
 | Maintain a mechanism for individuals and other sectors of the communities
to donate to the Trail Partnership.
|
|
|
|
 | Raise a minimum of $25,000 by the end of FY 2005 for organizational
support (programs and projects).
|
|
|
|
 | Write a job description and recruit a coordinator to
provide assistance and support of
volunteer
involvement.

 | Develop a transition plan into a River Mountains Trail support
group devoted to trail education, maintenance, operation and
growth. |
