To update our readers, last summer there was a move to relocate a "Heliport" near the River Mountains Loop trail. The heliport would be a very active one with 60 (120 total) in and out bounding flights to the Grand Canyon.

Today, the focus of the Heliport has moved  to a site near Sloan NV area.  However, it too is hotly a hotly contest location.

Below are some of the letters written by the RMLT PAC.

Letter to Bureau of Reclamation (below)

Dave Curtis, Realty Specialist
Bureau of Reclamation
Lower Colorado Region
P.O. Box 61470
Boulder City, NV  89006-1470

Dear Mr. Curtis:

The River Mountains Trail Partnership has been notified that the City of Henderson has requested permission to construct and operate a heliport in the vicinity of Railroad Pass.  The proposed heliport site lies directly on top of the right-of-way issued by the Bureau of Reclamation for the River Mountains Loop Trail.

It is our recommendation the Bureau of Reclamation deny this proposal and continue to manage these lands for the projects that are consistent with the uses already authorized in this area.

Please find attached our position in support of denying this request.

We appreciate the opportunity to offer comments on this proposal and should you have questions please do not hesitate to contact me at 365-2191.

 Sincerely,

 ==/s/==

 John H. Holman, Chairman
