Get walking directions on Google Maps!

You can now get walking directions on Google Maps that include the most direct, flat route, as well as the best use of pedestrian pathways.

But you don't have to just be going on a walk to benefit from this new service; it's also helpful if you're using Google Maps for public transit directions and want the best way to get from one stop to another.

Start by going to:  http://maps.google.com

In the search box put your address and then the address you want to go to.

Find the new drop down box.  It may show "by car" in the window or "walking."

Click "Get Directions"

What Fun!

Join Henderson Trail Watch

Henderson Trail Watch volunteers promote safety and appropriate trail use by providing information and assistance to all trail users, by observing and documenting safety issues requiring attention and by serving as a positive presence on Henderson trails.

Why walk local trails and not hike "real" trails?

bullet

With local trails you do not need to bring a tent or pack your meals

bullet

You save on gasoline getting to the local trailhead

bullet

You are more likely to meet a friend or neighbor on the trail

bullet

First aid is closer and quicker

bullet

The views are closer to home and of home!

Bill Laub created some ideas on how to promote
Trail Awareness
in the City of Henderson

Some of his ideas and links (all Word Documents):

"Adopt a Trail" - be sure to tell us!  The six trails that are looking for some awareness help.

Donate a broom and help the River Mountains Loop Trail stay clean.

Promote your trail by listing what can be seen as you walk along the trail- example from the Boulder Highway Trail.

Do's and Don'ts working a booth (general).

River Mountains Loop Trail Booth Check List.

When the weather gets nasty

SWAG ideas for your booth

Start an activity at your booth
during the Henderson NTD event.

Can you help us with Trail Awareness?
