Segment 6

In 1999, the City of Boulder City in cooperation with the Southern Nevada Water Authority identified a new pipeline corridor that could provide raw water as well as treated water to Boulder City.  The new alignment follows the proposed trail corridor from the new treatment plant around Railroad Pass to Boulder City.

This proposal could address some significant issues for the trail- most importantly, the access behind the Railroad Pass Casino and the rock issues present near that site.  The waterline continues east from Railroad Pass along segment 5 that has been awarded a TEA-21 grant.

It is recommended by the Partnership that the grant be delayed until the water line is constructed which is scheduled for completion in 2001. A letter to the City suggesting the grant delay was submitted by the partnership in late 1999.

These segments have been also been included in the SNPLMA grant request (it has been identified as priority #3 for SNPLMA Community Trails and Open Space Program).

In 1999, the City of Boulder City in cooperation with SNWA identified a new pipeline corridor that could provide raw water as well as treated water to Boulder City. The new alignment follows the proposed trail corridor from the new treatment plant around Railroad Pass to Boulder City. The proposed Boulder City water line provides an opportunity to negotiate trail access.

TRAIL DEVELOPMENT OVERVIEW

SUMMARY: The strategy for the development of this trail is to have the trail developed as part of the City's projects. The development of this segment is tied to the development of a new pipeline corridor that would provide raw and treated water to Boulder City. The proposed waterline alignment follows the proposed trail corridor (segments 5- 1 0) from the new SNWA treatment plant through Railroad Pass. This proposal could address some significant issues for the trafl - most importantly, the access behind the Railroad Pass Casino and how best to site the trail in consideration of the rock outcroppings along the railroad tracks on the Railroad Pass property. Part of this trail could be funded by Boulder City's TEA-21 grant for segment 5 and part could be funded by Henderson's Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act (SNPLMA) grant for segments 6 through 10. For additional information see segment 5.
