Segments 11 and 12
The Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) has agreed to construct segments
11 and 12 as part of the pipeline installation associated with the new water
treatment plant located on the western slope of the River Mountains.
Segments 11 & 12 will be paved by SNWA in early 2001 followed by Segment
13 being completed by City of Henderson early 2001. STAY TUNED for a possible
trail dedication event spring 2001.

SEGMENT NARRATIVE:
Along eastern boundary of SNWA treatment facility in Los Angeles Dept. of
Water & Power easement. Runs north with downhill grade prevailing. The
proposed SNWA trail will include a paved bike path with a parallel
(non-paved) path for equestrian use.

Bureau of Reclamation withdrawn lands for water and power purposes with
easements held by SNWA, Colorado River Commission, and BLM

PROPOSED OR PENDING LAND USE CHANGES/OR OTHER OPPORTUNITIES OR OBSTACLES:
Construction of new SNWA treatment plant is providing opportunity for
trail development by end of 2001. Proposed Nevada Power project for PDP
contract (co-location with Colorado River Commission
and
SNWA contracts). Potential future power line and adjacent access roads along
existing IPP power line.
TRAIL DEVELOPMENT OVERVIEW
Summary: SNWA will develop trail to preferred configuration as part
of River Mountains Water Treatment facility and pipeline construction. Trail
should be completed by the end of 2001. The trail will follow the SNWA
pipeline. A rest area including shade, kiosk, and water will be located
along the trail. Interpretation at the treatment facility is also being
considered. The majority of segment I I is funded by SNWA. The Bureau of
Reclamation is seeking funding to develop that segment of trail, where it
leaves the pipeline corridor.
