Desert tortoises and bighorn sheep have the "right-of-way."
They are not to be disturbed even if they are on the trail and block your way.

The River Mountains are a non-motorized use area.  The River Mountains Loop Trail is a non-motorized trail.   
No ATVs, no OHVs, no motorcycles, no dirt bikes.

Segments 19 and 20

In1998, the National Park Service in cooperation with the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) received a grant in the amount of $424,900 for the construction of segments 19 and 20.

We expect to go to bid summer 2001 with completion in the Fall of 2001 of segments 19 and 20. This project will be part of one construction project to  add (12 miles) completed to the loop.
