Segments 3 and 4 Within Boulder City, the trail is placed in the roadway along Industrial
Boulevard and Yucca Street. Boulder City has made application for TEA-21
funds to move/relocate segments 3 & 4 further north along a future
SNWA/utility easement. This would move the trail off of Industrial Rd and
Yucca St. providing a safer, more scenic and enjoyable trail experience.
===================== SEGMENT NUMBER: 3 and 4 Proposed: _______ Existing: ___x___ APPROXIMATE LENGTH: .8 miles SEGMENT ENDPOINTS: START. Industrial Road at US 93 (Segment 3 start) Yucca Street
(Segment 4 start) FINISH: Railroad Museum/Maintenance building on Yucca Street SEGMENT NARRATIVE: This segment consists of a developed on street bike lane in the road
shoulder along Industrial Road and Yucca Street in Boulder City. There are
two alternative routes to improve safety for non-bicyclists. (See trail
development overview.) EXISTING AUTHORIZED USES (S): ___ hiking __x mountain bicycling __x road bicycling ___ horseback riding ___ other (walking, jogging, rollerblading) EXISTING TRAIL CONDITIONS: TRAIL WIDTH: 10 feet TRAIL TREAD/SURFACE. Asphalt, on street OTHER FEATURES: No existing sidewalks or hiking accesses except along road shoulder. As
of May 2000, Boulder City needs to complete street striping along existing
bike lane. LAND OWNERSHIP AND OTHERS WITH EASEMENTS OR OTHER LEGAL ACCESS: There is an NDOT right of way along U.S. 93. Boulder City holds partial
ownership and easements within right-of-way of Industrial Road. At Yucca
Street, the trail corridor travels across private property to lands owned by
the State Railroad Museum. LEAD TRAIL PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT ENTITY: Boulder City PROPOSED OR PENDING LAND USE CHANGES/OR OTHER OPPORTUNITIES OR OBSTACLES: There is a commercial development area between Industrial Road and Canyon
Road. As developments are proposed, Boulder City reserves the right to
expand trail width as a condition of development. TRAIL DEVELOPMENT OVERVIEW SUMMARY: This segment is comprised of an existing bike lane (part of
the Boulder City bicycle and trail system) that provides on street access
along Industrial Road to Yucca Street. This short segment is currently
limited to approximately 5-foot width and is problematic with the parking of
vehicles along the bike path causing trail users to enter the driving lanes.
Trail development off street is preferred to accommodate hikers and other
users. However, current development of this segment is hindered by lack of
sufficient public right-of-way for a portion of the segment. This
alternative corridor will require close coordination with Boulder City, the
Nevada State Railroad Museum, and owners of adjacent private property. The proposed off street trail would parallel U.S. 93 to the railroad
right-of way and travel west along the railroad to Yucca Street and the
State Railroad Museum/Maintenance Building. This segment could alternatively
be rerouted to follow U.S. 93 south of the intersection with Industrial Road
and extend south to where it intersects the railroad grade near the
stoplight located where U.S. 93 and alternate U.S. 93 intersect. From this
point, the trail could follow the railroad grade west to Yucca Street. An alternative proposal involves a segment that will continue to follow
the proposed SNWA pipeline (connecting to segment 5) to the site of the new
water tank at the mouth of Bootleg Canyon and then follow a drainage
structure to connect to segment 2 in the vicinity of the NPS warehouse.
Boulder City has submitted a TEA 21 application (1/2000) to construct this
alternative alignment.
Remember desert tortoises and big horn sheep have the
"right-of-way" and are not to be disturbed
