River Mountains Loop Trail Clean Up

A Recap From Our November 2, 2002 Trail Clean Up.

"We removed parts of 6 abandoned vehicles, and approximately 160 cubic yards of debris. Enough trash to cover a football field. Some of this trash has been at home in the desert for many years.

In addition to cleaning up we also provided a learning experience and education to the local neighborhood. Besides the direct hands on involvement of our volunteers, the partnership also provided information to over 600 households in the River Mountains Estates H.O.A. and neighborhood on proper dumping procedures and how to report illegal dumping activities.

Event Details We Are Working On

You are Invited!

Saturday November 2, 2002 is the second annual River Mountains Loop Trail Clean Up. Our plan is to clean the area where segments 9 and 10 of the trail will soon go. This year's clean up is being held in conjunction with the National Public Lands Day.

We will start the day at the newly opened Equestrian Park near the north/east corner of Equestrian Drive and Magic Way (in Henderson Nevada). There we will organize into teams of "litter pickers."

Our event will be similar to last years trail clean up. You will find a continental breakfast, coffee, shuttle busses, dumpsters, trash bags, water and finish the day with a provided box lunch.

All you have to do is come prepared for a morning in the sun, maybe some work or gardening gloves, a water bottle and clothing that will protect you from desert bushes.

If you would like to volunteer, we ask you fill out our volunteer form  and sign a disclaimer form.

Or give our volunteer coordinator, Andrea Edwards a call at 565-5112 (or email her at ACC@gty.ci.henderson.nv.us.)  This will help with our planning.

The coffee will be ready at 7:30 am and we will start soon afterwards. We plan to finish no later than noon (12:00 P.M.) We hope you can join us!
